Jun 30 - Gibraltar Presents At Leading eMoney Event In London

The Gibraltar Finance team together with a strong private sector representation returned from the PayExpo 2015 conference which, once again, proved very successful in positioning and creating interest in Gibraltar’s strong case to be an onshore EU finance centre of choice in this market.

The event, held over two days, was attended by more than 2,000 delegates.

Gibraltar Finance worked closely with locally based firms IDT Finance, Payoneer, Wave Crest and The Bancorp together with the Gibraltar Electronic Money Association to maximise the opportunity presented. This included, for the first time, the creation of a Gibraltar focused newsletter distributed throughout the 2 days and which is now available online by following this link: http://issuu.com/gibraltarfinancecentre/docs/2015_gema_flyerpayexpo_2015

Very welcome additions to the delegation were Joanne Beiso of the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission and Micky Swindale of KPMG.

Gibraltar Finance, silver sponsors at the conference, hosted a panel session during the morning of day 2 exploring, “Is it still possible to be a successful cross-border business in ePayments?” Panel members Kriya Patel, Howard Gibbs, Peter Howitt, Miles Paschini and Daniel Spier, together with moderator Paul Astengo, are featured in the attached photograph.

Albert Isola, Minister for Financial Services commented: "Feedback from the event has been entirely positive and a number of international firms have expressed an interest in undertaking a fact finding visit to Gibraltar in the near future. The visibility created and the contacts made at events like PayExpo will provide a springboard for ongoing, sustainable growth in the finance centre."

Daniel Spier, Chairman of the Gibraltar Electronic Money Association, said: “The PayExpo is always an important industry event and having a strong Gibraltar presence further confirmed that we are becoming the jurisdiction of choice for eMoney in Europe. The support from the Government was once again exceptional and we are still hearing positive feedback about the Gibraltar message from people who were present.”
