Sep 03 - Gibraltar Port Authority And Maritime Administration To Make Waves At London International Shipping Week

The Gibraltar Port Authority (GPA) and Gibraltar Maritime Administration (GMA) will be co- sponsoring events at the London International Shipping Week (LISW) next week. Delegates from both authorities and the private sector will be representing Gibraltar at various events throughout the week.

LISW will offer over 100 industry functions and unique networking opportunities for leaders across all sectors of the international shipping industry – regulators, charterers, ship owners, ship managers, bunker suppliers, lawyers, ship brokers, bankers, insurers, insurance brokers, commodity traders and brokers, ship suppliers, port operators, shipping service providers and many more.

The sell-out one-day LISW Conference and Gala Dinner, both on Thursday 10th September, will attract the very highest level of government and shipping leaders from the UK and around the world to crown what promises to be another interesting week.

A Ministerial breakfast will be hosted by Albert Isola, Minister for Maritime Services for Gibraltar, and Bob Sanguinetti, CEO and Captain of the Port, on Tuesday 8th September.

The invitation-only breakfast is targeted at senior shipping executives and representatives from the principal bunker suppliers operating in Gibraltar. The event will be an opportunity for Minister Isola and Commodore Sanguinetti to discuss recent developments and initiatives being undertaken by the Gibraltar Port as well as reinforcing the Port’s goal to remain as a key maritime hub in the western Mediterranean. It will also be an opportunity to build on the Port’s aim of direct and individual engagement with key players in the market as Gibraltar seeks to further consolidate its bunkering activities.

Bob Sanguinetti, CEO and Captain of the Port, commented: “I look forward to engaging with senior representatives from the global shipping community throughout the week and discussing the future of the shipping industry. We have been working extremely hard to really understand what companies in the industry need and how Gibraltar can offer an attractive package to help them overcome any barriers. Events like this allow my team and me to speak to the community to ensure we remain one of the most attractive destinations.”

Albert Isola, Minister for Maritime Services, added: “Gibraltar is fast becoming the most influential hub in the western Mediterranean. I am fortunate to be able to host a breakfast for industry executives and representatives and look forward to welcoming them all. The Gibraltar Government is completely committed to supporting the maritime sector and bringing more business to Gibraltar and I am confident we will be able to build more long-term relationships at LISW.”
