Jul 22 - GFA Reacts To “Disparaging Remarks” Made On Social Media

The Gibraltar FA says it has noted with “serious concern”, a post containing “disparaging remarks” made about Gibraltar, reportedly made on social media by a player registered with Europa FC. The GFA says it is aware that the club has initiated an internal investigation into this matter.

The GFA says it operates a very strict social media policy and, in particular, takes an “extremely serious view” of posts which seek to insult or discredit Gibraltar in any way, shape or form.

Consequently, the GFA says it has this morning revoked the player’s registration with the Association. The player in question will no longer be able to participate in any GFA competitions with immediate effect. In addition, the player is indefinitely barred from re-registering with any Gibraltarian Football Club.

The GFA says it will continue to promote discipline and good behaviour of registered players and coaches on and off the field of play. In particular the Association will operate a zero tolerance policy when it comes to disparaging or insulting remarks made against our country by any individual registered with the GFA.
