Oct 24 – Army Inter-Corps Indoor Hockey Tournament Success

Two soldiers from the Royal Gibraltar Regiment have represented the Infantry in the Army Inter-Corps Indoor Hockey Tournament this year in Aldershot.

Warrant Officer Class 2 Donald Drimmie and Private Kyle Davis formed part of the Infantry’s team which took part in the tournament from the 27–29 September.

This year the tournament was of an extremely high standard in which eight teams took part. After a very high tempo group stage qualifier, the Infantry came out on top of their group and qualified for the semi-finals, in which they beat the Royal Signals in a penalty shoot-out.

The Infantry then faced the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers (REME), whom they had already played in a play-off which had resulted in a 4-4 draw. However, this time REME came out on top, with a 6-3 win over the Infantry.

The Infantry is now looking forward to taking part in the Inter-Services Indoor tournament in Aldershot in November 2016. Both WO2 Drimmie and Pte Davis have again been requested to play for the Infantry.
