July 25 - Commonwealth Games Day 2 – Swimming and Squash

swimming As day two of the Commonwealth Games wraps up, Team Gibraltar held their own in two events, swimming and squash. Swimmer Colin Bensadon competed in two events, completing the 100m Breaststroke in 1:11:55 and 200m freestyle in 2:00:99.

Fifteen-year-old Christina Linares made her Games debut in the 50m free style, clocking in at 29.05 seconds.

Two of Gibraltar’s three squash players were on the court this afternoon as they began their participation in the plate competition, after both exited the main draw yesterday.

Tomorrow will see Gibraltar’s 8 strong shooting squad kick off the first of four days of competition. Air Pistol duo Jonathan Patron and Louis Baglietto have an early start at 8:45am in the 10m Air Pistol Individual competition, with Air Rifler, Stephanie Piri competing mid morning in the 10m event.

Squash and swimming continue tomorrow and Sunday with Allison Edwards taking to the streets of Glasgow on Sunday morning for the women’s Marathon.
