Jul 29 - GSLA Summer Sport & Leisure Programme Helps to Develop Aquatic Skills

gsla swimming Today the Stay and Play Programme, part of the GSLA Summer Sport & Leisure Programme sponsored by NatWest visited the GSLA swimming pool, where Leslie Jackson, ASA Qualified Teacher supported by the Stay and Play Leaders, introduced the children to the basics of moving through the water in the best and most effective way possible using freestyle movement techniques.

Other aquatic exercises were also incorporated into the session aimed at encouraging the children to develop their movement skills and muscular endurance in a wet and fun environment. The opportunity to use the pool supports the diverse range of activities the children will participate in over the summer and allows them to develop and learn lots of movement mechanics and strengthen muscles and posture that will benefit them in daily life.

The session was hugely encouraging for all 11 of the children developing their aqua skills.

The GSLA’s Stay and Play Programme is ongoing, catering for children with special needs and will continue throughout the summer offering weekly swimming sessions, visits to Gibraltar’s beautiful parks, Commonwealth, Alameda and Europa and a massive programme of sports, arts, music and learning.
