Aug 03 - Government Welcomes Addition Of Companies House To E-Business

The Government says it is pleased to confirm that Companies House has now concluded its internal changes and processes necessary to enable it to work almost entirely online, allowing users to file and search documents and returns electronically.

This initiative combines Governments concerted drive to advance e-Government with meeting EU obligations by simultaneously complying with Directive 2012/17/EU.

Companies House has during this time;

i)  introduced e-filing, enabling documents to be submitted electronically,

ii)  enabled online inspection of documents having scanned over 750,000 documents
totaling over 1.6 million pages of data,.

iii)  Succeeded in joining the European Business Register together with all EU Member
States.

The agreement in June 2013 between Companies House and Government recognized the need for a modern and digital registry, which has culminated in also meeting the requirements of the EU Directives.

Fabian Picardo, the Chief Minister, welcomed the news stating:

“In all areas of Government we are working hard to meet the targets we have set ourselves for introducing e- Government, as a means of becoming more efficient and effective. I am grateful to Companies House for the work they have carried out which enables us to meet that target and also ensure we meet another commitment we have made, which is to ensure compliance with our EU obligations. I am delighted that we continue to deliver on these promises across all sectors of our economy.”
