The RGP has intervened on an establishment in Ocean Village that is licensed to sell alcohol. It was discovered that the shop was selling alcoholic drinks to an under-aged person.
At 6.25pm on Friday 17th February 2012, a 14-year-old boy was seen by the Police, leaving the premises. The boy was carrying a bottle of vodka, which had been purchased at the premises. The owner of the shop has been reported for process for the offence of selling alcohol to a person under the ages of 18. A prosecution case is expected in due course.
An RGP statement released this morning stated, ‘We will take the necessary action against any licensed premises or establishments who are found be acting irresponsibly and contravening the law selling alcohol to persons who are under the age to consume/purchase. In this regard, we seek as much support and co-operation from the community and more importantly so parents, so that we can gather the necessary proof against those who insist in infringing the law and bring them before the courts’.
