Dj MaNiAc - Carl Villarubia
Watching Carl perform now in a club, one would think he had been set up on a mission to DJ professionally for years. Surprisingly however, this talented young man’s first opportunity came at the age of 16 when he was ‘thrown in the deep end’ when offered to stand-in unexpectedly at local bar ‘The Tunnel.’
An enthusiast for music, but with little experience of DJ’ing, no one, including himself, could have imagined that he would entertain a crowd of 300 so effortlessly. Carl, aka, DJ Maniac had officially been born.
An upward spiral from then on, Carl’s reputation amongst the DJ scene grew to levels of undisputed respect. His mixing ability and tunes sought after, he undertook various residencies at The Tunnel, Little Rock and Corks Wine Bar, whilst remaining eager to progress and develop his talent further by Dj’ing independently at his own live gigs.
His popularity and musical skill fast reached well-known clubbing destinations in Spain and Carl was offered opportunities to DJ in house music hotspot Templo (La Linea), Sky Lounge (Marbella), Splash Club (Torremolinos) as well as a year residency in 2009 at Moorea (Sotogrande). His career has seen Carl invited to two well-established radio shows; Global FM with Johnnie B Gomez & Salvaje FM with Golfo Wey. With a bright future ahead of him, Carl currently holds residency at local club Savannah and has shared the decks with Internationally renowned DJ’s including Alberto Soto and Jaime Fisher (Ministry of Sound) and Abel Ramos (Tocadisco).
