Mar 07 - 2014 Spring Festival Art Competition Launched

govt crest The 2014 Gibraltar Spring Festival Art Competition is open to Gibraltarians and residents of Gibraltar aged 16 and over as at 20th May 2014. A maximum of two paintings and two sculptures may be submitted by each artist. Works must be original and not previously entered competitively, except for entries submitted in the Ministry’s art competition for Young Artists. Entries will be exhibited at the Gustavo Bacarisas Gallery, from the 20th May to the 30th May 2014.

Mar 07 - Europa Point Stadium Will Not Impact Surrounding Wildlife - Says GONHS

gonhsThe Gibraltar Ornithological and Natural History Society has dismissed any claims that the GFA’s proposed Europa Point Stadium impedes upon the natural surroundings at Europa Point. GONHS has further considered other possible factors including the effect on migrating birds, but discovered that any adverse effects are unlikely. They expect that an EIA process will still examine any other possible impacts on the natural environment.

Mar 06 - World Book Day Explores the Talents of Local Authors

wbd st marys World Book Day has long been a well-celebrated event in the UK with annual handouts of book tokens to schools, dress ups, book signings, book fairs, and an extensive programme of activities aimed at influencing school children to read.

The World Book Day Charity sends out an activity pack and programme to schools around the UK, outlining events and activities that can be carried out throughout the day. With sponsorship from National Book Tokens Ltd school children receive book tokens to help towards purchasing books. Children are also encouraged to dress as their favourite fictional characters and many schools invite authors to speak, read to children, and hold signings.
