Below follows a joint statement on the progress of the EU-UK Agreement in respect of Gibraltar:
European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo met in Brussels on Friday 12 April.
The Government has said that today’s press release from the GSD is “contradictory” and a “futile attempt” to compare the progress of the internal Civil Service investigation into allegations against Ms Joanna Hernandez and the factual assessment ordered by the Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, under section 15 of the Police Act.
The Government says it has now had the opportunity to investigate further the use of Gibraltar’s sports facilities by private entities dating back to 2005.
In relation to a commitment made by Health Minister Dr. Cortes in his 2014 budget speech, Director of Public Health Dr. Kumar today revealed that an updated ‘Health and Lifestyle’ Survey would be produced this year. The initiative will see 750 random adults selected from the register of electors to be questioned anonymously by surveyors contracted by the GHA, face to face.
Marking six months following the release and Government response to the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee report on Gibraltar, entitled ‘Gibraltar: Time to Get Off the Fence’ a debate was held in the House of Commons yesterday afternoon.
