Below follows a joint statement on the progress of the EU-UK Agreement in respect of Gibraltar:
European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo met in Brussels on Friday 12 April.
Gibraltar Cultural Services, working alongside teacher and playwright Julian Felice, will be holding a conference event on Saturday 24th January 2015 at the John Mackintosh Hall. Based on the successful TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) series of talks (www.ted.com), Gib Talks will see a range of local speakers deliver fifteen-minute talks on a broad spectrum of subjects with the aim of focusing on the anecdotal, the personal and the light-hearted as opposed to heavy-going academics and agendas. The speakers will represent a cross-section of the community and will help to make up a rich and varied programme.
Gibraltar Cultural Services, on behalf of the Ministry for Culture, informs local artists of the annual Art Competition for Young Artists that will be held in February 2015. Closing date for receipt of entries is 6pm on Friday 20th February 2015.
The Gibraltar Cultural Services will be holding a Book-Crossing Day from 10am and 5pm this coming Saturday 6th December outside the Cathedral of St Mary the Crowned as part of the Small Business Saturday event.
Reacting to misleading reports in parts of the Spanish media yesterday afternoon about the outcome of Transport Council meetings earlier today, the Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo said: "Reports in some media are inaccurate. The Treaty position remains firm. We will continue to work with the UK and future Presidency to reach a position which is compatible with EU law."
