The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
Officers of the RGP’s Drug Squad have yesterday, Wednesday 28th of May, arrested a 23 year old local man, on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug.
On going refurbishments to Alameda estate have seen the recent completion of Kingsway House. Works included the replacement of all external render back from bare block work to a coloured acrylic render system.
The structural steel columns have been exposed, cleaned of all surface rust and re-encased in concrete. The main terrace has been completely lifted and redone with an insulation layer and a three layer felt waterproofing system. The terraces were then finished with new non-slip ceramic floor tiles.
Gibtelecom today hosted their annual telecommunications conference, attended by a series of Telecommunications providers from small states, including Andorra, the Faroe Islands, Malta, Guyana, Isle of Man, Iceland, Luxembourg and Greenland. Over 60 attendees are made up of former incumbent telecommunications companies from states with a population of up to 2 million. Gibtelecom plays and administrative role for the group, including the managing of financials and sub-contracting the consultant who assists in organising the annual event.
