Oct 25 - Smuggling Arrests

customsCustoms officers this week seized a further 89,920 cigarettes and made a number of arrests in several areas over the past few days.

Officers challenged a local man when he was seen acting suspiciously in the Western Beach area, the man was arrested after being found to have 10,000 cigarettes (50 cartons) in his possession. He has been bailed to surrender on November 21st.

Oct 25 - Government to Make UN Complaint Following Further Spanish Incursions

guardiaThe Government has today insisted that they have taken a very serious view of the ccontinuing incursions by Spanish state vessels into British Gibraltar Territorial Waters, this morning.

A No.6 spokesperson noted, ‘this follows the incursion by a Spanish vessel conducting an oceanographic survey escorted by first two and then three Guardia Civil patrol boats. The Spanish state vessels were challenged by the Royal Navy and the Royal Gibraltar Police.

Oct 25 - Shakespeare Workshops For Bayside And Westside Students

Two drama practitioners from the famous Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre will be visiting Gibraltar to carry out workshops with students from both Bayside and Westside Schools. Sponsored by the Kusuma Trust, the visit will take place from the 4th to the 8th of November and will see the students explore issues of Shakespearean stagecraft and genre, while also working on specific plays.
