The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
The Royal Gibraltar Police has said that there has been a recent increase in the theft and attempted theft of motorcycles / mopeds across Gibraltar. In recent weeks, the Yamaha Cygnus moped in particular has been targeted for such thefts. The thefts have occurred both from roadside parking areas as well as from underground garage areas within housing estates.

The Government and the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission today announced a joint initiative to deliver a new, streamlined legislative and regulatory framework for financial and professional services in Gibraltar and have today published a Paper detailing the intended changes. The initiative will rationalise over 80 different pieces of current legislation and multiple FSC guidance notes into one Act and a single accompanying regulatory Handbook.
