Jun 15 - More Things To Be Happy About
By Stefano Blanca Sciacaluga
Following on from my previous blog entry where I spoke about the book 14,000 things to be happy about, and the exercise of finding positives in unconventional settings, I was asked to come up with an additional fifty things to be happy about, mostly with this time of year in mind but applicable to other seasons too.
- Windy days in the summer
- Shadows of trees, plants and bushes on walls and floors
- Spots of dancing sunlight
- A beer in silence after a particularly loud day
- Salty hair and salty skin
- Locking eyes with a dog
- Late evenings
- Driving with the windows down and the radio up
- A good late night radio show
- Storytelling
- Narrow alleyways
- The sound of the sea at night
- Public art
- Dancing stupidly until the early hours of the morning
- Being able to look at someone in the eyes for a while without it being awkward or weird
- Beach BBQs
- Poniente
- The first swifts of the year
- A pleasant surprise of a meal
- A string of things you were doubtful about working out
- A smile from a stranger
- Re-telling of good stories between friends, even if you've heard them a thousand times
- Finding a quiet spot in the city
- Making music with anything
- Good quality small talk
- A long evening walk
- A nice fountain
- Overgrown grass
- The sun in your eyes
- A chilly summer night
- Objects framed nicely by a window
- The mysteries of life
- Bicycle rides
- The smell of orange blossom
- Watching fruit grow daily
- The power of nature
- Finishing a task in an unconventional manner
- A crescent moon
- An unexpected summer downpour
