Oct 24 - More Than £5,000 Raised At Deloitte Spinathon

On Saturday 30th September, Deloitte Limited organised a 12-hour Spinathon and family fun day to raise awareness and collect funds in aid of RICC (Research into Childhood Cancer), raising £5145 for the charity. 

Deloitte staff kept four bikes going for a total of 12 hours from 8am to 8pm. The much anticipated Corporate Challenge proved to be very exciting, with local companies competing against each other by cycling for an hour each, in an attempt to cover the most distance.

An Individual Challenge was also available for members of the public who could join the fun by cycling for 15-minute slots.

Almost all Deloitte staff participated, showing great team spirt and raising a total of £5,145. A great deal of effort was put into the organisation of this event principally by Deloitte’s Corporate Social Responsibility committee, (Cassandra Felices, Zainya Reyes and Alexandra Ramagge) leading to an extremely successful day. There was also a variety of fun-filled activities for the youngsters to enjoy such as a bouncy castle and gladiator arena. A raffle was held at the end of the day; the winners were as follows:

1st GoPro 5 Black – Graceanne Pou
2nd JBL Charge 3 Bluetooth speaker – Marion Ramirez
3rd Prize the Lounge meal voucher – Kathryn Gordon

Individuals who signed up for the Individual Challenge were also competing against each other to win a prize. This year’s winner of the Individual Challenge was Hilario Guerrero who cycled an impressive 14.1km.

The corporate element to the event was a well-supported and entertaining challenge, where all teams proved to be extremely competitive. As per the previous year, Deloitte were the first team to participate in the Corporate Challenge, setting a distance and challenged other companies to beat them. Those who succeeded earned a bottle of wine. The overall winners of the Corporate Challenge, for the second year running were; the Royal Gibraltar Police achieving an impressive 71.6km/hr, second were Eastgate who achieved a distance of 63km/hr and third were Hassans with 58.9km/hr. Deloitte would like to thank and congratulate all teams who participated with so much enthusiasm and fun spirit.
