May 23 - GLMS 12-Hour Local Music Marathon Raises £1,080 For Cancer Relief Gibraltar

The Gibraltar Live Music Society hosted a twelve hour marathon of local music on their official Facebook page last Friday. The show kicked off at midday and continued all the way through to midnight.

The show was hosted by GLMS President David J Diaz and GLMS Representative Harry Gonzalez.

Using Facebook LIVE the GLMS were able to play local music from the past and present as well as engage with those watching and donating.

The marathon also included some live performances by Jesse Sampere, Mark Muscat (Crimson Clover), The Slade Family as well as Antho Rocco and Darren Bloomfield. Aside from live performances, it also counted on interviews with Raphael Gonzalez (Saxomania), Andrew Pons and Peter Chichon.

A spokesperson for the GLMS said: “The day, evening and night couldn’t have gone any better, we were very nervous just before we got underway as it was an exciting initiative but we were a tad bit worried as to how the public would respond but that all went away as soon as we received a generous £300 donation from A.M. Capurro.

“The GLMS would like to thank the event’s sponsors Saccone & Speed and The Lord Nelson as well as Matt Caldwell from Hungry Monkey for sorting out the delivery of our meals. Big thank you to all those that donated especially Jason Green from Cotton Leisure who sent us the remaining £58 to reach our target goal of £1,000.

“Lastly, we would like to thank Ernest Borrell from SoundFusionStudio for allowing us to host the marathon at his premises and for being the marathon’s Sound Engineer.

The kitty is currently at £1,080 and the GLMS’ JustGiving page will remain open till next Thursday 31st May: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/gibraltar-live-music-society
