Oct 02 - All Set For Royal Marines 350th Birthday Celebrations

With a Gala Cocktail Reception at the Convent on 25th October, a fabulous Royal Marines Band Concert in St Michael’s Cave on 26th October and a celebration charity Rock Run and Postal Walk taking place this is surely going to be a weekend to remember!

The organiser, Alan Hardy, was in Gibraltar recently making final preparations and said: “With almost two years’ planning behind us for this very special occasion the Royal Marines 350th Birthday Celebrations are going to be magnificent and will not only reinforce the long standing history the Corps has with Gibraltar, but also raise funds for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund. With support from His Excellency the Governor of Gibraltar we have organised a fantastic weekend of fun and celebrations for participants in the Run from the UK and USA, but also for the locals of Gibraltar.”

Fernando Cavilla, Secretary of the Gibraltar Amateur Athletic Association is working with the Organisers of the Rock Run and is promoting the event on the Association’s website to ensure there is good competition between the ‘home and away’ runners for the run.   On the other hand if you wish ‘walk’ rather than ‘run’ you can email Frank Bado at  This email address is being protected from spambots. To further enhance the weekend events the Royal Marines will be exercising their Freedom of Gibraltar on Sunday 26th October with a Service at the Royal Marines Monument in Ocean Village at 1200 before parading through Main Street from 12:45 and finishing at the Convent.
