Dec 16 - GBC Open Day Charitable Trust Appeals for Communal Generosity

gbcWith the 2014 edition of the GBC Open Day taking place tomorrow, the Open Day Charitable Trust is appealing to the Gibraltar community to once again be generous in their donation of funds.  In 2013 the event raised £104,000, thanks to an amazing effort by individuals, associations and companies who came together to help those most in need.

With every penny raised going to a worthy cause, the Trust announced the following donations were made.

  • Gibraltar Alzheimer and Dementia Support Group - £28,000 towards a Snoezelen Room and Dining Room at the new centre.
  • Cancer Relief Gibraltar - £30,000 towards services provided by the charity at the Day Care Centre.
  • Clinic Nepal - £3,500 towards ongoing work in health camps in the Hatibang region of Nepal.
  • Gibraltar Dialysis Patients and Friends Association - £1,710 towards the purchase of two TV units.
  • Gibraltar Community Association - £10,000 towards financial assistance provided for those less fortunate undergoing medical treatment abroad.
  • Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research - £3,400 towards financial assistance provided for a patient undergoing treatment in UK.
  • Three Kings' Cavalcade - £8,700 towards funding of floats and gifts for children in hospital, the disability home and Mother Theresa.
  • Childline Gibraltar - £10,000 towards funding of Appropriate Adult Project (includes commitment to a total of £30,000 over a three year period).
  • The Saffron Rose 4 Rett Charitable Trust - £7,000 towards the purchase of a Tobii Tracking Computer.
  • Physical Activities Association for Mature Older Adults - £3,915 towards the cost of Aqua Classes over a 29-week period.

The Open Day Charitable Trust relies on the public’s support, and hopes that during 2015 it will be able to help many more locally-registered charities with their projects.
