Apr 26 – Man Charged With Wasteful Employment Of Police

Steven Attard, a local 55-year-old man, has today been charged with two counts of Wasteful Employment of Police.

The charges stem back to May 2016 when Attard made several reports to police alleging that he had been the victim of knife attacks. The seriousness of these alleged incidents raised concerns for public safety and an extensive police investigation was launched.

The RGP says that, as the investigation progressed, police became increasingly concerned with the version of events provided by Attard, which subsequently led to his arrest on suspicion of Wasteful Employment of Police in November 2016.

Attard is currently on Police bail and is due to appear in court on Thursday 27th April.
