Jul 10 - Local Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Burglary

An 18-year-old local man was arrested yesterday by uniformed officers of the Royal Gibraltar Police.

Jamil Medhurst was arrested as a result of investigation initiated after receipt of a report of a Burglary at the Copacabana Bar in Main Street earlier in the day.

The burglary reportedly occurred during the early silent hours of Sunday morning with money having been stolen from the till.

A Scene of Crime Examination was carried out by RGP Crime Scene Investigators and after viewing CCTV footage and carrying out enquiries, Medhurst was arrested yesterday evening. Searches were conducted, but no property has been recovered.

Medhurst was kept in police custody overnight and has been charged with Burglary and will be appearing before the Magistrates’ court this morning.

Medhurst pleaded guilty to burglary and a pre-sentence request has been requested. He has been remanded in custody until his next appearance.
