Sep 25 – 61-Year-Old Man Arrested For Importing Cocaine

HM Customs continues the fight against drug smuggling.

In an operation conducted over the weekend, officers of the Flexible Anti-Smuggling Team arrested Isaac Benezrah, a local 61-year-old male.

The suspect was stopped at approximately 3.30pm on Friday 22nd September as he drove into Gibraltar in a locally registered motor vehicle.

Officers searched the vehicle with the aid of a specialist drug itemiser detector, which gave a high reading as to the presence of cocaine. A full search of his person resulted in the seizure of approximately six grams of cocaine.

Mr Benezrah was arrested and subsequently charged for the importation and possession with intend to supply the substance . He was kept in custody overnight and appeared in Court this morning where he has been released on bail with conditions.

His case has been adjourned until next week.

The total weight of cocaine seized is estimated to have a street value of approximately £360.
