Oct 16 - Two Varyl Begg Residents In Court For Littering

Two Varyl Begg Estate residents appeared before the Magistrates’ Court this morning charged with dangerous littering.

One resident said it was “stupid” he had to come to court after being photographed allegedly leaving a bag of rubbish outside his home in an alleyway.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge this morning, after saying he hadn’t seen a sign in the area. He claimed he was leaving the bag of cement for recycling.

A hearing will be held in December and the man was bailed to the sum of £250.

Another resident was fined £250 for dumping two doors and some wood outside after being asked to keep them outside by his mother-in-law for Master Services to collect. He claimed he didn’t know he could be fined.
