Dec 13 - Woman Cleared Over Morrison’s Whisky Theft

A local woman accused of the theft of £164 worth of whisky from Morrison’s Supermarket was found not guilty at the Supreme Court today.

The jury unanimously found Lizanne Golt, 35, not guilty of theft after a two-day trial.

Golt’s lawyer Simon Diable told the jury his client was spotted on CCTV footage just pointing at the bottles of alcohol in the supermarket, and that this was not enough to convict her of the crime. He also raised criticism of the lack of CCTV footage made available during the trial after it had gone missing.

Kerrin Drago appeared for the Crown and the trial was presided over by Acting Puisne Judge Liam Yeats.
