Feb 18 - Two Slovak Nationals Accused Of EU Funding Fraud

On Friday afternoon, officers of the Economic Crime Unit arrested two Slovak nationals resident in Spain for fraud-related offences.

Anton Gorog, 52, and Pavel Samson, 49, both shareholders and directors of Fresh Tap Limited, trading as Gib Gun at Ocean Village, were arrested following a complaint by HM Government of Gibraltar’s European Union Programmes Secretariat in relation to irregularities with an EU Funding application submitted by them.

The application process requires the submission of invoices and receipts by the applicants. As a result of the investigation it is alleged that the documentation provided by the men had been falsified with the intent of making a gain for themselves amounting to approximately £49,000.

Both men have been charged with 1x count each of Conspiracy to Defraud. Bail has been denied and the two men remain in Police custody until their appearance before the Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
