Nov 20 - Two Juveniles Charged For String Of Burglaries

Two juveniles have been arrested by the RGP in connection with the spate of burglaries that have taken place at various business locations in Gibraltar in recent weeks.

One of the juveniles has been charged with eight counts of burglary, one attempted burglary and the two of them have been jointly charged in respect of four additional counts of burglary.

The burglaries allegedly took place at Sacarello’s Coffee Shop on November 6th, at the World Online Philatelic Agency in Tuckey’s Lane on November 14th and on the 17th, at GD Associates in Irish Place on November 19th, at CG TC Ltd in Irish Place on November 19th, at J Boyd Estate Agents in Irish Place on November 19th, at Varsity Properties in Irish Place on November 19th and at the Bovis Koala building site at Line Wall Road on November 16th. There was also an attempted burglary at the Raleigh Bicycle Shop College Lane on November 19th.

The four joint charges of burglary relate to break-ins on November 14th at Las Iguanas Restaurant, The Bridge Bar and Grill Restaurant, The Pizza Express Restaurant – in the area of Ocean Village – and at the Midtown Hair and Beauty Salon at Bell Lane on November 16th.

The two defendants will be appearing at the Juvenile Court today at 2.30pm.
