May 20 - Man Charged Following Alleged Assault On Woman

Manuel De Sa Fernandes, a 57-year-old locally resident Portuguese national, was arrested over the weekend by officers of the Safeguarding Unit, following an alleged assault on a 66-year-old woman.

He was detained in police custody whilst officers conducted enquiries during the course of yesterday, as a result of which De Sa Fernandes has been charged with:

  • 1 count of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm 

  • 1 count of Attempted Grievous Bodily Harm 


He has been refused police bail and is being detained in Police custody pending his appearance before the Magistrates’ Court later this morning.
