Jul 18 - Violent Robber Gets 4 Years

Daniel Patrick Lavin Leon, a Spanish national who viciously attacked a shop owner during a robbery in Irish Town in December 2010 has just been sentenced to 4 years in the Supreme Court. He will be serving 2 years and 4 months of his sentence as he has already spent time on remand.

Lavin Leon was arrested in Lanzarote, Canary Islands, by Spanish authorities acting on a European Arrest Warrant. He was extradited to Gibraltar in November 2011 and had been on remand since then. In court this morning he pleaded guilty to robbery, grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon.
