Jul 24 - HM Customs Cigarette Seizures Result In Two Arrests

customsOfficers of HM Customs disrupted an attempt to export cigarettes from the area of Mons Calpe Road yesterday. A Spanish registered jet-ski was intercepted as it approached the coastline and the two occupants fled the scene out of British Gibraltar Territorial Waters. Customs retrieved 10,000 cigarettes (50 cartons) from the sea in Waterport basin.

Jul 23 - RGP Seize Over 100,000 Cigarettes

rgpIn a further attempt to clamp down on tobacco smuggling the RGP has recently carried out a number of separate operations. In the first case a 20 year old resident of La Linea was arrested in the area of Devil’s Tower Road and 7600 cigarettes were seized.

The second arrest involved a 55-year-old resident of La Linea who was found to be in possession of 2800 cigarettes. Both men are currently on police bail.

William Hill places odds of 5/2 on George and then 4/1 on James, with odds for Charles at 33/1. The Daily Mail notes that the royal couple could choose to honour Prince William’s late mother, Princess Diana, by giving their son her middle name, ‘Francis’.

Jul 22 - Two Arrested in Customs Cigarette Seizure

customsCustoms officials this morning arrested two Spanish residents of Algeciras on Winston Churchill Avenue on the suspicion that they were in possession of a commercial quantity of cigarettes. The 37 and 22 year old were stopped and challenged in a Spanish registered vehicle. Following a search of the vehicle 11,000 cigarettes were found.
