Jul 16 - HM Customs Seize 59 Cartons Hidden In Spare Tyres
Officers of HM Customs arrested two people in a car park in the New Harbours complex yesterday evening.
Officers on patrol challenged the couple who were seen acting suspiciously around two Spanish registered cars. The cars were subsequently searched and a commercial quantity of cigarettes was found concealed within the spare tyres.
A 48 year old man from Seville and a 46 year old woman, resident in La Linea were arrested and subsequently bailed to surrender on August 15th.
HM Customs seized the two Spanish registered vehicles and 11,800 cigarettes (59 cartons) during the incident.
