Jan 05 - Star Wars Actor Announced For This Year’s Gibraltar International Comic Convention
Michael Henbury Ballan, famous for his role as Ewok in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, will participate in this year’s Gibraltar International Comic Convention.
Local events and creative agency, Sunbow Projects, has just confirmed the announcement in an exclusive for YGTV.
The news comes hot on the back of their Star Trek campaign to unveil the attendance of Tim Russ – Tuvok and there are still many more brilliant stars and talent to join.
Sunbow Projects have cooked up a treat for May 4th to the 6th 2018, building upon their original two-day event to form a three-day jam-packed celebration of popular culture.
Michael Henbury Ballan is an English actor and is most known for his role in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi as Ewok, in Harry Potter, and the Deathly Hallows as a Gringrotts Goblin, and as a Goblin Corpse in Labyrinth. He also starred as Butler in Jack Brown and the Curse of the Crown and the Chronicles of Narnia as a Hedgehog. Michael will speak about his experience in all movies during panel sessions with questions and answers from the public.
Michael, speaking about the preparations required for his transformation, said: “It took over four hours in make-up to be transformed into Gringott! And a further one and a half hours to be returned to myself. The face was not a mask as you may suspect but in fact all individual pieces applied separately.”

Tuvok is best known for playing the role of the science officer on Star Trek Voyager. He has been the only actor in Star Trek to share scenes with seven different captains! He has also been part of Star Trek: Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and the movie Star Trek: Generations. To name a few of the other series he has been in, and the variety of roles he has played including Spaceballs, Death Wish Four the Crackdown and Bird. Additionally, he has appeared in the original TV Series Beauty and the Beast, Twilight Zone, the Fresh Prince of Bel Air and Sea Quest 2032.
At the convention, expect some fantastic and interactive Seminars, Workshops, Exhibits, CosPlay, E-Gaming, Live Illustration, Live Action Role Playing and much more.
Touching on virtually all genres, including horror, animation, anime, manga, toys, collectible card games, video games, webcomics and fantasy novels (amongst many other things) the long weekend will be an experience to remember.
