May 23 - Elliott Kyne Wins Top Prize In Spring Visual Arts

Elliott Kyne took the top prize in the Gibraltar Spring Visual Arts Exhibition. Mr Kyne also won the first prize in the Painting, Drawing, Prints & Digital Painting category for his piece “Native River.”

The annual event is organised by Gibraltar Cultural Services on behalf of the Ministry of Culture and is being held at the Gustavo Bacarisas Gallery until the 2nd June.

Steven Linares, Minister for Culture, officially opened the Exhibition and presented the prizes yesterday evening.

A total of 119 entries by 33 artists have been submitted. International artist Firouz Farman Farmaian carried out the judging in the painting, sculpture, photographic, video and installation categories.

The prize winners are:

Painting, Drawing, Prints & Digital Painting 2nd Prize- £250 Paul Cosquieri 'Over Everything’

Sculpture Award - £500 Karl Ullger 'Plastic Landmines’

Photograph Award - £500 Gabriella Martinez 'Once a Couple Always a Couple’

Video Category - £500 Charlene Figueras 'Release The Cord’

Installation Award - £500 Vera Francis 'Awakening’

Best Gibraltar Theme 
The Alwani Foundation Award - £1000 Paul Cosquieri ‘Pink & Blue Rock’

Best Young Artist Sovereign Art Foundation Award-£1000 Jacqima Rios ‘Nightly’
