Dec 24 - Felice Plays To Be Performed In London

A short play by Gibraltarian playwright Julian Felice has been selected by a professional theatre company to be performed in London. Ten Minutes – an existentialist tragicomedy – will be staged at the King’s Head Theatre in Islington on the 28th January as part of a scratch night produced by Tiny Theatre Company. This comes shortly after Julian’s play Happy Birthday – a play about privilege – was similarly selected by Saw It Here First Productions to be performed at Theatro Technis in Camden on the 3rd March. Both plays will be showcased in front of audiences that will include directors and agents from the theatre industry.

Tiny Theatre Company is a female-led company that aims to create opportunities for emerging theatre practitioners, while Saw It Here First Productions promotes new writing to raise money for charity, in this case for ‘Joey’s Fund’, which helps children with rare forms of cancer via the Grace Kelly Ladybird Trust. Both companies attracted a large number of submissions for their events, with Saw It Here First Productions also showing interest in some of Julian’s other plays. This will be the first time that Julian’s work has been performed by professional companies in London, although a number of his plays have already been performed at various locations across the United States.

2019 will see a busy start for Julian, whose re-scheduled production of Scratch runs on the 16th and 17th of January at Bayside Drama Studio, while his new play PopStar will be performed at the Gibraltar Drama Festival in March. Additionally, there will be another two productions of his play The Amazing Angel-Man in the USA, one in Indiana next month, and one in Maine in March.
