Jan 10 - GSD Insists Government Response to Vulnerable Patient Concerns is Inadequate

gsdIn response to the Government’s latest statement on recently revealed vulnerable mentally ill patient, the Opposition has insisted that It is precisely because they have supported and worked very closely with the family that they have established the facts and gotten them correct.

The party insists that the family of said individual has made many appeals to the Government for the adequate support from a Minister, social worker, care worker or counsellor, without success. The GSD goes on to claim that the Government is attempting to turn the case into a party political ping pong game.

Jan 10 - ESG Concerned With Floating Fuel Tanker Move

esgThe Environmental Safety Group has expressed concern over the bunker storage tanker being berthed in the harbour. The group claims that this has a potential for major oil spill as well as fire and explosion on the area surrounding the Shell storage tanks, the berths of nuclear and Naval vessels and the natural gas storage for the new power station. They are also concerned that this move could increase small oil spills in the area, through the connection of fuel lines.

Jan 10 - Gibraltar Come Out Top in Futsal Friendly

futsalGibraltar won 4 – 3 in last night’s Futsal friendly with Malta, held at the Tercentenary Sports Hall. The team’s success follows on from a promising start to UEFA grade Futsal, last May, when the GFA beat San Marino. The team recently attended a tournament in Poland, which served to develop the team and help them gain experience for the UEFA qualifiers in 2015, for 2016’s European Cup.

Jan 10 Opposition’s Press Release Is A Distortion Of The Truth

Gibraltar GovernmentThe Opposition’s latest press release concerning a person with mental health problems is nothing more than a distortion of the truth and a typical attempt at scaremongering using vulnerable people to make political capital.

The matter relates to a person who was charged with a very serious offence at the end of 2012 and was remanded in custody at the time. Although he has attended court every 7 days since then as is usual procedure for people remanded in custody, a bail application for his release was not made until last month.

The Opposition suggest that there has been no support for this person from the mental health services. This is not the case. The mental health team have been working closely with the prison to ensure that all necessary treatment and support is provided.
