  • Government Disappointed at EU Parliament Delisting Vote

The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).

Biancas – Gibraltar’s Iconic Restaurant

When looking for a truly iconic Gibraltar restaurant you need look no further than Biancas in Marina Bay; the original waterfront restaurant.

Biancas opened its doors in 1979. Boasting views of the bay and marina from its quayside location, many locals and visitors regularly choose to dine on the outdoor terrace area to watch the sun set behind the cornucopia of boats and seafaring vessels as they gently undulate at their moorings. There are few better locations for a realistically priced, friendly and delicious dining experience within Gibraltar.

Serving up a variety of sumptuous starters and main dishes, ranging from seafood, to meats, speciality pizzas and salads, Biancas has a plate to suit all tastes. In fact, some say that the reason that Biancas has been so successful over the last three decades is because it has barely changed its menu. All the local favourites are still present, with many regulars always selecting the same dish with every visit. Why change a winning formula?

Open throughout the day, this Gibraltar restaurant will happily serve you breakfast, provide you with light bar snacks and lunches, or even just a comfortable location for a tea or coffee with friends, family or colleagues. Biancas is an all-rounder – even catering for big events and occasions.

The service is always friendly, and, during the day, reasonably quick. Lunches can be pre-ordered if time is short, and this helpful service usually speeds up the whole process. Evenings and weekends are another matter altogether.

Biancas is always busy and often full to capacity on Friday and Saturday nights – booking is essential if you wish to secure a table. With increased clientele, the speed of service drops noticeably but understandably, so be prepared for a longer meal when dining out at the weekends. However, the quality of the food is still maintained, and this what is most important, especially when considering the regularly updated and comprehensive list of specials on offer daily.

Many restaurants in Gibraltar are now offering Sunday Roasts, but sadly, Biancas roast is not the most highly rated amongst those on offer by other establishments. It is recommended that visitors to this restaurant stick to the main menus and specials, as these will more than satisfy any gourmand. If nothing else, this is one waterside Gibraltar restaurant that could end up typifying everything that is good about a visit to the Rock; good views, good food, good price.
