  • Government Disappointed at EU Parliament Delisting Vote

The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).

Ted - The talking, drinking, smoking, loveable teddy bear

Ted - the film

A talking, smoking, drinking, drug taking, abuseful, lovable and cuddly teddy bear. The film is about a lonely child wishing that his “best friend”, a teddy bear, was alive to keep him company. Boom! It happens, Ted comes to life and a young boy is filled with hope and joy once more.

Fast forward twenty years and Ted is still around, still enjoying life as John Bennett’s (played by Mark Whalberg) best friend, the only difference is they’ve grown up, well they’re older, not necessarily more mature.

John’s need to keep Ted around stems from his childhood, but has developed into a dependence that starts to test his four year relationship with Lori. When Lori wants more, John and Ted are forced to part ways and leave their crazy, wild life together and make it on their own.

The film, written and directed by Seth MacFarlane, has a lot of the same qualities and styles as you would expect from Family Guy. The sense of humour, jokes and general feel to the film is very much based around Ted and John’s utter lack of responsibilities.

Smoking drugs, drinking and hookers do feature, funnily enough more as part of the Ted’s life rather than John’s, which does make for a good laugh. Ted may in fact be out of control, but watch out, other people want Ted too.

Check out the trailer and see for yourself, Ted will be showing next week here in the Leisure Cinema in Gibraltar.
