gsdDuring Friday afternoon’s meeting of Parliament, Speaker Adolfo Canepa congratulated Daniel Feetham on his selection as leader of the GSD and Opposition. He added that himself and the clerk would always be at Mr. Feetham’s disposal to help him in exercising his functions as leader of the opposition.

Mr. Feetham thanked members of GSD and members of GSLP/libs for their support, claiming that it is an essential part of the democratic process for there to be a strong Opposition, as well as a strong Government.

Mr. Feetham will retain responsibility for Gaming for now, with the intention on passing it on to Shadow Cabinet member, Selwyn Figueras eventually.

Responsibility for Justice will be passed on to Mr. Figueras, as well as town planning, traffic and transport, financial services and e-commerce. Damon Bossino is set to shadow Minister for Employment and Training Joe Bossano. Mrs. Isobel Ellul-Hammond will take on responsibility of the Care Agency, equality and Civil Rights and the Elderly, as well as her previous responsibilities for Health and Civil Contingencies.

Edwin Reyes will take over responsibility for Education, but will continue to Shadow Minister Linares on Sport, Culture and Youth. Jaime Netto will retain his responsibilities. Former Leader Peter Caruana will not retain a portfolio, but will instead act as a 'back bencher'.
