June 19 - PDP Launches By-Election Manifesto – Cruz To Focus On Constructive Politics

Nick Cruz, PDP leader and a candidate in July’s by-election, this morning launched his manifesto. He described his campaign as a “really exciting and fresh opportunity for Gibraltar” and repeated his central message that, if elected, he would work to revolutionise how politics is conducted locally. Describing the current situation as “party squabbling,” he promised a more constructive approach that would move away from “acrimony and partisan politics.”

Mr Cruz explained that, in his opinion, a vote for a 10th GSLP Minister or an extra Member of the GSD opposition constituted a “wasted vote” which would do nothing to alter the “mood and dynamic of how we do politics.”

Mr Cruz said that, if elected, he would press for significant changes as part of the Select Committee set up to examine democratic and parliamentary reform.

He also urged the public to read the manifesto carefully (accessible at: www.pdp.gi) to acquaint itself with the PDP’s numerous policies on education, law and order and relations with Spain which, he claimed, the PDP had proposed as “constructive solutions” over the past seven years.
