Feb 24 - GSD Shocked That Lucrative Airport Contract Has Been Awarded To “Well-Known GSLP Supporter” Without Tender Process
The Gibraltar Social Democrat Opposition says that it is shocked to learn of the manner in which the Government has awarded the contract for the provision of advertising at Gibraltar airport.
According to the GSD, answers given by the Chief Minister reveal that basis of the decision was that the successful recipient of the contract had not been employed by the previous GSD administration when it carried out the restructure at the airport. A GSD spokesperson said: “The contract was not the subject of a tender. There appears to have been no regard for considerations such as whether the beneficiary of the award (who is now receiving £80,000 a year) was the best in the market in terms of, for example, expertise, experience and cost. As if that was not bad enough the awardee of the contract is a well-known supporter of the GSLP.”
