- Govt will set up new teams to monitor events
- Political process “could take years”
- “No veto” on content of exit agreement
- Contact made with local businesses and “Leave” campaign figures to protect Gibraltar’s interests
In the light of the outcome of last week’s Referendum, the Government says it considers it important that people understand the procedure that exists for the withdrawal of a Member State from the European Union. The procedure confirms that it is very much a case of business as usual for a number of years to come and that therefore people should not expect any dramatic change for a considerable period of time.

Despite the overwhelming support from voters in Gibraltar to remain part of the EU, the Gibraltar Chamber of Commerce says it is “disappointed” by the final decision in the UK to leave the European Union which Gibraltar is bound by.
