Mar 20 - GSD Urges Government to Not Write Off £3 Million of Outstanding Rent Arrears

parliament A clash in Parliament this afternoon during Questions to the Chief Minister, saw Opposition leader Daniel Feetham question Mr. Picardo on the Government’s decision to not pursue outstanding rents for Government rentals. The issue, the Chief Minister insists, is one of law and not policy; he noted that the Statute of Limitations states that rent debts from over 5 years ago are no longer recoverable.

The Opposition leader questioned the Government’s decision to ‘write off £3 million of arrears’ that are adding to the Gibraltar’s ‘culture of entitlement’, which he suggested the Government was supporting. Mr. Feetham said, ‘in the spirit of constructiveness I’m asking CM to consider and reverse his policy’.

Mar 18 - Feetham To Move Motion On Single Sky Exclusion

The Leader of the Opposition, Daniel Feetham, has today given notice of his intention to move a motion taking note of the decision of the European Parliament to exclude Gibraltar from the EU Single Sky II + Regulation and the attempt by Spain to renege on its obligations under the Cordoba Agreements, where she agreed to “cease to seek the suspension of Gibraltar Airport from any EU Aviation measure not yet adopted".

Mar 18 - Hague Welcomes EU Sanctions Following “Illegitimate” Crimean Referendum

The UK's Foreign Secretary, William Hague, today attended a meeting of the EU Foreign Ministers in Brussels where sanctions were agreed on individuals from Russia and Crimea.   Asset freezes and visa bans will be imposed on 21 people associated with the decisions that Russia has made about Crimea, including members of the armed forces and in the Parliament.
