Dec 31 – YGTV’s Year In Review
As 2015 comes to an end, the Your Gibraltar TV team have looked back at the biggest stories of the year. We’ve compiled a selection of important news highlights, reports and blogs that went viral.
It's been a busy year with November’s general election, Sir James Dutton’s unexpected relinquishing of his post, the GFA coach Allen Bula being dismissed for allegedly making derogatory statements and showing aggressive behaviour, and the Gibraltar Music Festival drawing crowds to a two-day bonanza.
Our social media feeds were flooded with comments from our readers when uniformed Guardia Civil officers attended the Queen’s Birthday Parade in June.
This year was also the year when a family of four was found dead in a home in Boschetti’s Steps, leading to what the Royal Gibraltar Police called the biggest murder investigation carried out in Gibraltar.
We have included a list of our most-read stories below, and we look forward to bringing you many more news stories in 2016.
January
A 24-year-old man was found dead following an accident in Signal Station Road at the beginning of last year.

February
A local man was jailed for one year and six months for glassing a woman in Salsa Fuego.
March
The manager of King’s Bowl in the Leisure Centre, Colin Fisher, was found with images of child porn and recordings of his co-workers on his mobile phone. He was later sentenced to three years and eight months in jail.
It was in March that the RGP discovered four dead bodies in a flat in Boschetti’s Steps, and launched a murder investigation.
April
The family of four who were found dead in a flat in Boschetti’s steps were named as more details emerged.
The trial started of Kevin Norman Whitfield who stood accused of raping and sexually abusing an 11-year-old girl.
The first five contestants signed up to the Mrs Gibraltar pageant – the first to be held in Gibraltar.

May
There was a fatal traffic accident on Devil’s Tower Road. A 24-year-old man was taken to St Bernard’s Hospital with serious injuries, but later lost his life.
June
The Government announced it had awarded the Eastside Reclamation project to Camoren Holdings Ltd, who would be investing more than £1billion to develop the area known as Blue Water Gibraltar, which would include luxury flats, affordable homes, a super yacht marina, shops and restaurants and a promenade.

July
The Government announced they would be working together with Leisure Cinemas to provide well-loved films in an open air environment at the Commonwealth Park.

August
GCSE and A-Level results were issued and students and teachers were delighted with the results.
This blog post by guest blogger Jonathan Ablitt described the awkward and sometimes hilarious cultural differences between Gibraltar and UK as students prepare for their first year at university.
September
More than 20 residents were evacuated and a 68-year-old man was found dead after a fire broke out in a block of flats in City Mill Lane.
October
Chief Minister Fabian Picardo announced that the elections would be held on Thursday 26th November. The GSD and the GSLP-Liberal Alliance announced their candidate line up, and started presenting their policies to the electorate.
However, the most-read story of the month was a 3.5 magnitude earthquake which occurred in the Strait of Gibraltar, which was read more than 4,000 times and shared by a number of our readers.

November
The General Election was held at the end of the month, and saw the GSLP-Liberal Alliance being re-elected into Government with 68% of the vote.
This was also the month when Kevin Norman Whitfield was sentenced to 20 years in jail for raping an 11-year-old girl.

December
The Boschetti’s Steps inquest began, and readers diligently followed the developing story as details emerged of the gruesome deaths of four people.
At the start of the month, two police officers were injured during routine traffic checks. One police officer sustained two broken fingers while the other sustained a dislocated shoulder. Both driver and passenger were arrested on suspicion of assault.
