Jun 22 - Luce Foundation Residential Trip

A group of sixteen youngsters recently enjoyed a residential week near El Puerto de Santa Maria, Cadiz, as part of the Luce Foundation Project. The children were all aged thirteen and fourteen and were accompanied by youth workers, teachers and a Police Officer.

The week provided the opportunity for the participants to experience new activities that are unavailable in Gibraltar. These included kayaking, mountain biking, rock climbing, archery, high ropes course and a visit to Cadiz. The group were accommodated in log cabins during their stay.

It was not all about activities, with the group also having plenty of time to socialise and make new friends with people they may have not otherwise interacted with. Perhaps most importantly, the week provided them with a chance to spend some time away from their regular environment and enjoy the natural surroundings.

The week was enjoyed by all and the participants have been invited to attend the local Youth Clubs so they can further make themselves available of the opportunities that the Youth Service offers.

The Youth Service has thanked the Department of Education and the Royal Gibraltar Police, who for some years now have supported this work led by the Gibraltar Youth Service.
