Nov 13 - Gibraltar Bands Wow The Crowds In London's 100 Club

Crowds gathered at London’s 100 Club last week for a special MTV Presents Gibraltar Calling concert ahead of the MTV European Music Awards at The SSE Arena, Wembley.

Local acts followed in the footsteps of musical legends including The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Chuck Berry and The Who, who have all performed at this legendary venue.

Amongst fans and supporters, the evening was attended by major record company executives and A&R reps. Richard Coram of Neon Angel LTD commented: “I’m very happy with the turnout tonight, I’ve been a fan of Gibraltarian talent from day one and I’m delighted to be able to share it with other industry executives.”

MPs including Samantha Sacramento and Steven Linares were also in attendance at the Oxford Street event.

Mr Linares stated: “Tonight was a fantastic evening for Gibraltarian music, I was incredibly proud to see local acts performing at such an iconic location and with such a great response from the crowd. We’re delighted to be in partnership with MTV working together to export Gibraltarian culture.”

Stu Whitwell, lead guitarist of Jetstream said: “Couldn't have asked for a better first gig in London. The 100 Club venue is a great venue steeped in history, we consider ourselves very lucky to have been performing on that stage, it certainly felt very comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed the event.”

The concert took place as part of MTV London Music week in the run up to the EMA awards onthe 12th November.

Other events include a concert by the iconic U2 in Trafalgar Square on the 11th November and performances by Tinie Tempah at Hackney House, home of MTV.
