Aug 14 - Parking Improvements To North Mole Road

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Planning says there will be several parking and traffic improvements in the area of North Mole Road.

The Government will be commissioning a new Pay & Display area along Waterport Terraces as an initiative to provide short-term parking to visitors within a much-frequented residential area that will offer free overnight parking to nearby residents and the General Public alike.

Effective as from Tuesday 14th August 2018, the Pay & Display parking bays will be operational between the hours of 10:00 to 18:00hrs Monday to Friday and 10:00 to 14:00hrs on Saturdays.

Free parking will be permitted on Sundays and Public Holidays.

The introduction of Pay & Display areas throughout Gibraltar aim to provide essential turnaround and access to areas of high parking demand. They also provide parking opportunities to visitors and those that do not benefit from residential parking in the area.

A spokesperson said: "The improvements will now provide more Loading/Unloading Bays to a zone thatis also occupied by businesses and will offer two dedicated motorcycle bays, one along North Mole Road and another on Mons Calpe Road, complementing the existing motorcycle bays along Emerson’s Place.

"As successfully implemented in Waterport Road (by Watergardens), a Red Zone has been introduced throughoutthe stretch of North MoleRoad to deter illegal double parking in an attempt to keep the thoroughfare and access to the Port and residential areas unobstructed."

The Minister for Infrastructure and Planning, Paul Balban, said: “I am delighted to see the introduction of these needed parking improvements along North Mole Road. The changes have been implemented following consultation with residents and businesses of the area and as part of the Sustainable Traffic, Transport and Parking Plan.”
