Sep 24 - Army Cadets To Provide New BTEC Courses

The Gibraltar Cadets will start their BTEC level 1 and 2 certificate in Teamwork Personal Skills and Citizenship on the 3rd of October, which is the first step on the CVQO learner journey and introduction to vocational qualifications.

This qualification is intended for learners aged 13-17 and provides recognition of early youth group and cadet skills that are often transferable into the world of work.

A spokesperson said: "CVQO-led BTECs are vocational qualifications designed to give students the skills they need to either move on to higher education or go straight into employment.

"These vocational qualifications help young people and adults within youth groups to acquire knowledge, skills and understanding through practical activities in a real-life context so that they can apply what they’ve learned.

"BTEC has earned its reputation as the world’s most successful applied learning qualification, providing students with a clear line of sight into work.

"Later this week, three of Gibraltar Cadets adult Instructors will be undergoing what is called ‘Train the trainers’ in order that they will be qualified to assess local cadets’ work."

The Gibraltar Cadets will be holding an open day on Wednesday 26th September 2018 for all potential cadets in the age group 12-17 years. The open day will take place at 7pm at Buffadero Training Camp and anybody considering joining the Cadets is strongly encouraged to attend with their parents/guardians.
