Nov 07 - Blockchain Innovation Centre To Hold Professional Blockchain Educational Workshop

The Blockchain Innovation Centre (BIC), a community and education initiative by the Gibraltar Stock Exchange Group (GSX) has announced it will host its first professional blockchain educational workshop in collaboration with the University of Gibraltar.

The workshop will be delivered by London Blockchain Labs (LBL) and will be held in collaboration with the University of Gibraltar on Monday, 19 November, from 9:00am to 4:30pm.

A spokesperson said: "The BIC is an education-focused network created by the GSX Group to support the growth of an industry workforce in Gibraltar for the new digital era. The BIC works to connect Gibraltar to the world of blockchain technology, striking up partnerships with local and international startup hubs, universities, and industry associations. Through these partnerships the GSX Group aims to facilitate the jurisdiction’s aim to facilitate breakthroughs within the global blockchain community.

"The BIC’s Blockchain Educational Workshop will consist of a full day’s session surrounding the blockchain industry, including an introduction to blockchain and the blockchain ecosystem; in-depth discussions surrounding blockchain, such as Ethereum, smart contracts, and understanding Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs); the regulatory landscape; and, finally, the many use cases of blockchain technology. The workshop will be divided into six different seminars, with in-depth discussions regarding the aforementioned topics.

"Leading figures within the ever-evolving blockchain ecosystem will provide expert lectures at the BIC workshop, including Isaac Sultan, LBL Smart Contracts Developer; Federico Rocchi, LBL Director of Business Development; Dr Enrico Rossi, LSE Fellow: Information Systems and Innovation Faculty; Ilya Kleyner, LBL Executive Director. These individuals collectively have a wealth of knowledge in blockchain technology, working for firms such as Deloitte Blockchain Labs, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, LSE Cryptocurrency, and Blockchain at Berkeley."

Philip Young, Director Of Marketing for the GSX Group said: “The BIC Blockchain Educational Workshop is the result of a shared determination amongst Gibraltar’s leaders, led by BIC, to equip our industries with the skills and experience needed to excel in this new space. There is a global shortage of talent within the blockchain sector and Gibraltar, already a natural home for the industry, wants to provide not just a location but an engaged and skilled workforce who will catalyse mainstream blockchain adoption and implementation. This BIC workshop is the beginning of our commitment to achieve this and one of many plans to bridge the gap in blockchain education.”

Nick Cowan, Founder and CEO of the GSX Group said: “The blockchain industry is characterised by openness and accessibility and it is these values that the BIC seeks to amplify through these workshops. By fostering important partnerships both at home and internationally, the BIC and GSX have worked tirelessly to deliver educational programmes that will help advance a core understanding of blockchain technology and foster community involvement within this exciting industry. We are delighted to be involved in bringing thought leaders and industry experts together to inform, educate and motivate in a sector whose revolutionary potential is only beginning to be realised.”
