Nov 09 - Armistice And Remembrance Sunday Events

This weekend marks the 100th Anniversary of the end of the First World War.

Here are the details of the events taking place in Gibraltar.

SATURDAY 10TH NOVEMBER 2018

10:00am – 2:00pm: Centenary of the First World War Exhibition at the John Mackintosh Hall. The Exhibition is hosted by the Gibraltar National Archives and is free to the public.

7:30pm – 11:30pm: A poppy image will be projected on the Moorish Castle.

Note: The projection of the ‘Tommy’ figure on the North Face of the Rock will be tested for a few minutes on Saturday evening.

SUNDAY 11TH NOVEMBER 2018

11:00am: Traditional Armistice Day laying of wreaths in the lobby of Parliament

11:30pm: Remembrance Day Service at the British War Memorial. A one minute silence will be held at midday.

1:00pm: Remembrance Day Ceremony at the American War Memorial

7:30pm – 11:30pm: A poppy image will be projected on the Moorish Castle.

7:00pm – Midnight: A ‘Tommy’ figure will be projected on the North Face of the Rock. The ‘Tommy’ figure is part of the global ‘There But Not There’ campaign. The Gibraltar ‘Tommy’ is expected to be the biggest in the world.
