Nov 12 - Gibraltar Port Authority Attends International Bunker Industry Association Annual Convention

Manuel Tirado, CEO and Captain of the Port together with David Pincho, Senior Port Officer recently attended the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) Annual Convention held in Copenhagen.

A spokesperson said: "This is one of most anticipated annual Bunker/Shipping events in the industry with nearly 200 delegates representing Ship Owners, Bunker Suppliers, Traders, Port Authorities, Regulators, NGOs, Brokers, Lawyers and Surveyors and Academics from around the globe attending to hear highly acclaimed speakers and experts.

"Topics covered a broad spectrum of issues, including specific emphasis on future challenges for the Shipping industry. The conference also offered the Gibraltar Port Authority the opportunity to continue its policy of direct engagement with ship owners and clients and a series of meetings were held in the margins of the conference along with local ship agents Transcoma Gibraltar Limited and Astralship Shipping Agency.

"Minister for the Port, Gilbert Licudi stated that it was important for the Port Authority to be represented at these high profile events as attendance offered the opportunity to further promote Gibraltar as a Centre for Maritime Excellence."
